Give It Up!
Isaiah 43:16-21
Lent doesn’t have to feel like punishment.
For a lot of us, Lent is the season we endure — Christmas is behind us, Easter isn’t here yet, and somewhere in between we’re supposed to feel bad about something. Give up chocolate. Feel guilty if you don’t. Get through it.
This year, Rev. Wendy is inviting the Shiloh community to try something different. Give up that version of Lent entirely.
On March 1, we begin a journey through the real questions of our lives — the anxiety we can’t shake, the despair that creeps in, the busyness that keeps us from actually breathing, the judgment we carry toward others and ourselves. And we’ll discover that the wilderness Jesus walked through wasn’t a punishment either. It was preparation.
Lent isn’t about earning your way to Easter. It’s about arriving there lighter than you came.
Join us Sunday, March 1 at 11:00 am. Come as you are – bring all your baggage and we’ll unload some of your stuff!
See the Shiloh Worship Page for Online Access to Worship.
