Sunday, July 05, 2026, 11 am; with Holy Communion
We all know the feeling Paul describes in Romans 7 — wanting to do better, knowing better, and somehow still ending up in the same place again. The gap between who we want to be and who we actually are isn’t a sign that we’re uniquely broken. It’s one of the most honest things Paul ever wrote, and it turns out he couldn’t fix it either.
As Shiloh gathers for worship and Holy Communion, the Rev. Wendy Miller Olapade preaches about “Losing, Learning and Launching,” drawn from Romans 7:15-25a. The sermon takes seriously what most of us have quietly suspected: that willpower, self-improvement, and even our best intentions can only take us so far. What we can’t fix in ourselves, grace already has.
There’s something freeing about that. Not as an excuse to give up, but as an invitation to finally stop pretending — and to discover that God has been waiting at exactly that place all along. Come as you are. The table is set.
Worship begins at 11:00 am. Shiloh Baptist Church, 1 Holton Street, Medford. All are welcome.
Rev. Dr. Jaron Green serves this week as guest musician for worship!!
