“Lord, I Want to Be a Christian”
Acts 11:19-26 (NIV)
There’s a difference between claiming a name and earning it. In Acts 11, the believers in Antioch didn’t call themselves Christians — somebody else did, watching how they lived. It wasn’t a label they picked. It was a label that stuck because their lives gave it something to stick to.
That’s the challenge Rev. Dr. Jaron S. Green brings this Sunday. Antioch was a city of strangers — Jews and Greeks, people who had no business sharing a table, sharing a church. The gospel didn’t stay where it was comfortable. It moved into unfamiliar places, among unfamiliar people, and something new got born in the middle of that mixing.
So the question isn’t whether we call ourselves Christians. It’s whether the name still fits. Whether our lives are actually giving anyone a reason to notice.
